Press Release Regarding Latest Developments in Libya
No: 281, 26 October 2015
We strongly condemn the mortar attack on a group of people holding a peaceful demonstration in Benghazi, despite progress recorded so far in the UN-facilitated political dialogue process. We wish God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in this terrorist attack and a speedy recovery for those injured.
The continuation of attacks against vastly devastated Bengazi underlines once more the urgent need for a political solution in Libya.
With this understanding, we expect that all Libyan stakeholders will approve the “Libyan Political Agreement” and its Annexes without further delay in order to form a Government of National Accord, which will represent the whole Libyan people and strive for their well-being. Turkey will continue to stand by Libyan people in this difficult period.
