We are pleased that the Presidential elections in Somalia was successfully conducted on 8 February 2017.



On this occasion we extend our congratulations to H.E. Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on his election as President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and wish success in his efforts towards state building, maintaining of sustainable peace, stability and prosperity in Somalia.



Despite all the difficulties, the finalization of the electoral process which started in October 2016 with today’s Presidential vote, is a promising development for the future of the country.



Since 2011, Turkey has been pursuing a comprehensive policy to support Somalia in numerous areas, including humanitarian assistance, as well as in the fields of restructuring of the state apparatus, security and development.



​Turkey, in cooperation with the international partners, will continue to stand together with the Somali Government and the brotherly people of Somalia, during this new period that is significant for Somalia to rise back on its feet again and to take its rightfully deserved place in the international community.​
